ECG have recently been out tracing underground utilities on a long-established train manufacturing facility.  We certainly raised a few eyebrows walking up and down in lines, pushing what appeared to many from a distance to be an empty sack barrow!

As part of a site redevelopment, it was necessary to understand where a fire hydrant supply was located beneath the ground.  Exploratory trial pitting had previously been undertaken by site contractors based on a review of historical utility records however the pipe was not where it was supposed to be!

We used Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to image the ground to a depth of 2.5m bgl across the area in question.  Within an hour we had located the service at a depth of around 1.0m bgl and traced its route across the site area allowing the site contractors and design team to progress the redevelopment safely and supported by reliable information.
